I just ordered my tickets to the Jan 22nd matinee show at the American
Repertory Theater (A.R.T.) of the play R. Buckminster Fuller: THE HISTORY
(and Mystery) OF THE UNIVERSE. It appears that nearly 1/2 of the seats
have already sold. So if you plan to attend that performance, order
your tickets now!
For instructions on ordering tickets, either reference my
previous notice or register on our event registration page:
http://synergeticscollaborative.org/registration.01.2011.html
The autoresponder will send further instructions.
We recommend that people from out of town attend the Jan 22nd matinee
performance, so it is easier to participate in the special exhibit that
we, the Synergetics Collaborative, are organizing with the Foundation
for New Directions (FND) and the Museum of Mathematics (MoMath).
Some special features of the Jan 22 Special Exhibit include:
* SNEC, FND & MoMath will have several facilitators on hand to engage
participants with the displays.
* George Hart of the Museum of Mathematics (MoMath) will lead participants
of all ages in building ("barnraising") a hands-on geometry activity
of a human-scale artifact with a connection to the geometrical work of
R. Buckminster Fuller and Dr. Marvin Solit whose work was inspired in
part by Bucky (see the video of Marvin on YouTube
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VEHanKNSrho).
* The exhibit will feature several hands-on displays.
* Janos Saxon from Hungary will be on-hand to demo his fun materials
for children and adults.
* Eric Heller will be on-hand to demo his Klyp Styx.
* FND will demo Rootblocks, Rhomblocks, show DVDs of Marvin Solit,
and more.
On Jan 23 there will be a discussion / seminar at the Foundation for
New Directions (FND) facility at 93 Belmont Street in Cambridge from
10am to 4pm.
After the discussion, we will go back to the Loeb Drama Center
(remember to bring your tickets from whichever performance you go to)
to attend Thomas T.K. Zung's presentation. Thomas Zung, one of Fuller's
architectural partners, will give a short overview on the inventions of
Buckminster Fuller with comments on Bucky's Dymaxion car and the New
Car #4 recently unveiled in Madrid by Lord Norman Foster at the Ivory
Press Exhibition Gallery. The talk will include Stanford University
Library materials.
If tickets sell out on Jan 22 and you plan to attend our discussion /
seminar on Sunday, we recommend attending the 7:30pm performance of the
play on Sun Jan 23. Our special discount applies for that performance
as well and there are still lots of seats available.
Please fill out our registration form at
